Stage 1: Finding work experience

Being aware that the media Industry is a very a hard section of the world to get in to, I begun searching for work experience during the Christmas holidays. On the 6th of January I spruced up my CV, got my current manager to produce a cover letter, and wrote my own cover letters directed for television companies as well theatre companies.

08/01/15

Today I hand delivered my CV’s to these theatres- Adelphi, Lyceum, Old Vic, Young Vic, Savoy, Shaftsbury, Theatre Royal Dury Lane, and London Palladium. I hand delievered them to try and show my commitment to the work experience, and give it a personal touch rather than the millions of emails and post they must get.

I dedicated the today to television and film studios. I rang round quite a few rather than email, again to make my enquiry more personal and potentially get a direct email rather than the ‘@info’ emails. I called:

Mount pleasant studio- work placements N/A

Black hanger studio- CV emailed over by address given

Camberwell Studios- CV emailed over by address given

Riverside Trust Studios- Work placements N/A

Foundation Studios- work placements N/A

BBC elstree- No answeer

3MILLs studios- CV emailed over by address given

ITV- CV emailed over by address given

Spectrecom- CV emailed over by address given

On Monday the 12th of January I received a email from Laylla at spectre com studio offering me a position in april to do a work placement with them.

14/01/15

Today I liaised further with Laylla, about the specific dates I will be doing the work placement. Laylla asked me to fill on a work experience application, explain why I want to go there, What my main interests are, what I want to learn and my strengths and weaknesses. This was completed online on their website which I didn’t get a picture of for my diary.

After all their forms were complete and read through, I got confirmation that I was selected for the work placement and will begin on the 27th of April for two weeks, YAY!!

Over the past few weeks I have been asking Laylla to fill out the work placement forms required by UAL. We had a few difficulties with this due to the format that I sent it in, however we made it right before deadline, every thing is now set to go for spectre com
